Something slightly less Buffyish

I'm excited about this project, and thought some of you might be, too:

The filmmakers are raising funds through IndieGoGo, with the permission and involvement of Ms. Styrene's daughter. I may be having more feels about this sort of thing, as I just watched Jim Jarmusch's fabu Gimme Danger documentary about The Stooges with my kid. I'd really like to see all the punk stories told, but especially Poly's, and now I can help make it happen!

So, this LJ nonsense is aggravating. I've been crossposting from DW for a long time, and plan to continue doing that, but I'm pretty sure I'm not hooked up with some of my peeps on DW. If you could point me in your direction, I'd be much obliged.

I've been enjoying all the BtVS 20th Anniversary things, but I do wish James Marsters had looked a little happier in the EW photos. Spike's joie de vivre is nowhere in sight, and I know it's something the actor shares with the character. Ah well. This photo of Amber/Alyson/Seth sort of makes up for it. Instant OT3! Twoz?

Meanwhile, there's still time to participate in the spring round of [community profile] seasonal_spuffy! Check out the details at this post.

Poly Styrene was one of the my triumverate of Punk Goddessess, along with Siouxsie Sioux and Pauline Murray. I shall be following with great interest.

I think we're already "mutuals" on DW, but if not, please add me. I'm DW-only going forward, though I haven't done anything irreversible with my LJ yet.

Yes, I'm all for Oz/Willow/Tara! :)

Speaking of SeasonalSpuffy, would it be OK if I post the story to my DW blog, then add a link on LJ (possibly using a different account)? Thanks.

Hi on DW. You're right, James Marsters looked sad! Ah well, maybe he had a bad day and it passed?

James did look a little strained, it's true. Not sure why. I did wonder if he was feeling the fact that he's quite a bit older than the rest of the cast, and that, though he looks great for his age, he thinks maybe it shows?

But maybe it was the all the Bangel vs Spuffy stuff, and Sarah holding hands with DB etc?

Of maybe he didn't like the outfit they stuck him in?

Or maybe someone from EW was too in-your-face about how much they hated Spuffy?

In other words, I have no clue and am just speculating wildly.

Still no sign of event for which I am waiting, so I still can't commit to [community profile] seasonal_spuffy, though if I'd been smart about it, I would have used the waiting time to write something. But now we have visitors again, etc.

I loved X-Ray Spex back in the day.

Got one; possibly two Au Pairs albums on vinyl, back when I had a subscription to Spare Rib. Never thought of them as Punk myself. Far too political and po-faced :-)

Yeah; love to buy her a coffee sometime :-)

Wondering if the horrible political situation will result in fantastic art, like back in our day. Punk 4evah!

Well, something good has to come out of it?

Surely!

Most of the bands who I would think of as Punk were just, or seemed to be, angry with no direction to it; except possibly Poly Styrene.

The Au Pairs were very different; right from the start they had a very direct political point of view. I can imagine the kind of kicking they would like to give John Lydon about now. They just never seemed to have much of a connection to the punk movement, such as I was aware of it anyway.

We would never have agreed politicially on a good many things, but I had a lot of time for them.
