I'm afraid I have zero idea how to have conversations on Tumblr, it's just not designed for exchanges (or even comments, really, though that has improved). I've also rarely seen any discussion as opposed to scattered text posts. I can't imagine trying to post serialized fic there...
Very useful for gifs and fanart, or even fan vids. But not text or any response to it.
