I broke Doppelgangland Willow out of her packaging for the occasion. Isn't she pretty? I'm reserving her whips and chains (included) for another time, though.
The tile was my birthday present from MiAmor last fall. Such a talented man! Of course, we've lived in our gal for 8 years, and before then, the backsplash was unpainted sheet rock (with tape and mud exposed). There's this Chinese expression: House done, life over. At the rate we're going, life is gonna be going on for a long, long time.
Your neighbors are quite right to give "Just Two Little Girls from Little Rock" their due. I regret to report that San Francisco is wholly less flamboyant than previously. The boom in property values lead people to improve, improve, improve, but hardly ever with the sense of whimsy that you used to see when it was done on a dime. Everything is less shabby, but perhaps not as much fun. All that wackiness still comes out on parade days, though, of which there are many! Woo hoo!
Reading the paper this morning, I stumbled across something I didn't catch from the TV coverage yesterday. Apparently, when GW was announced, and was honored with "Hail to the Chief" for the last time, the crowd was singing "Hey, hey, hey - Goodbye". Also, all the signs signifying "Bush Street" where covered up by pranksters with "Obama Street" signs. So, I'm still getting a few little happys today. Time to look forward, though.
