Best thing about yesterday was McDiva announcing that she now has the perfect comeback to the "why don't you smile, sweetheart" question to which females are so often subjected. "The patriarchy." Of course! Why didn't all of us think of that a million years ago?

In fandom news, I fluffed my seasonal_spuffy day, which was the day after we got back from our trip. But the story is about 2/3 of the way done, I promise. I might've finished it in time for free-for-all day, but spent all day Saturday with a new friend who just finished watching Buffy for the first time. We went to Much Ado About Nothing, watched Dr. Horrible's Sing-along Blog, the Shakespeare Retold version of Taming of the Shrew, had dinner and then watched the Firefly pilot. It was a bit much, but she's young. Heh. I'm going to get back to the story writing...between tech support calls, work, jury duty, doctor's appointments, etc. We all need moar fic, amirite?

I’ve been bad about posting, because, well, in addition to my computer being balky, I have a new obsession. One that I am obsessed enough about to put before you now. At the end, there will be fandom thoughts, I promise.

A/N: Takes place in an AR wherein Buffy was called to Slayerhood according to schedule, but did not move to the Hellmouth until her freshman year of college. NOT a Wishverse fic. Many thanks to shapinglight for betaing, though she can't be blamed for changes that happened after her read-through. Contains dialogue swipes from BtVS. I do not own…yada…strictly not for profit…yada…
Summary: When the Slayer's family moves house in her second year of college, a new neighbor swiftly becomes all she wants for Christmas. His wants are decidedly more complicated.

CHAPTER 1 / CHAPTER 2 / CHAPTER 3

Inspiration for this came from lutamira, who put up a list of tropes and asked for characters and pairings to go with them. I decided I wanted to see Spike and Buffy in a "next door neighbor AU", while retaining their vamp/slayer natures. One shower later, I had what I deemed to be a workable idea. You may judge for yourself whether you agree.

I watched some old movies this weekend and went off the range a bit. I wrote a drabble, see, but it's not of the Buffyverse. That hardly ever happens. Anyway, here it is, my first (and last?) The Avengers/Pulp Fiction crossover! It's still ostensibly Jossverse, hence the icon. Also, my Dreamwidth subscription ran out, so I'm always surprised at which icons survive!

( Chapter Two: Are we there yet? )

I meant to mention this ahead of time, but Things. So instead you get the recap version! Woo!

I had surgery on Friday. It was in order to remove one of the several things that I supposedly don't really need all that much and would be better off without. This is according to the judgment of some people, all of whom profit from the removal process, of course. I've reached a ripe old age without getting anything other than my (five!) wisdom teeth out previously, so I was reluctant to proceed with anything along these lines. However, I finally had to agree that there could be benefits, and doing nothing was unlikely to lead to anything good. After a roundelay of many steps, I found myself in a paper gown on Friday morning. They come with built-in hand-warmers now! Who knew?

Medical technology being what it is, they did the whole five-hour procedure through four teeny, tiny abdominal incisions, and sent me home the same day. I live at the top of 38 stairs, so I was a bit daunted. Not enough to break my perfect record of no overnight hospital stays, though. (McDiva was born at home.) Much to my surprise, the stairs presented no problem, nor did walking, nor eating, nor drinking. Um, not alcohol, though. That's still a no-no.

McDiva and MiAmor are being very accommodating, as they ought. Friends keep bringing by yummy food, I get to lie down whenever I want, and if my hair is horrible, nobody judges me. I'm sort of amazed that the best case scenario described to me is actually playing out. Does that ever happen?

There are other things they want to remove. I'm gonna take a rain check, for now. But it doesn't seem so scary at this point, and I don't think it's just the drugs.

So, there's that. Also, I'm headed to SoCal for a long weekend wherein McDiva will attend "Costume College" and I will hang about having cocktails with my BFFC (Best Friend From College) and ogling Olympians on television. Once we've cleared out, MiAmor is planning to have all his male friends over to the house to watch action movies and listen to obscure music from many lands. Good times, all around!

I am officially banned from "Mark Watches"! I am sort of impressed. He just posted about "Smashed" today. If I am too controversial in my opinions about Season 6 Buffy/Spike, it's going to be a bloodbath over there.
