I've got a few more chapters of my story/travelogue for seasonal_spuffy today! Set in San Francisco, but NOT comics compliant.

Summary: A few years after Sunnydale’s spectacular demise, Buffy and her crew are getting on with their lives in San Francisco. A not entirely unwelcome blast from her past (Spike! It's Spike!) blows into town, but he’s brought more than the generally allowable amount of baggage with him. 

Previously: 
Chapter 1 on LJ / Chapter 1 on DW — In which a "chance" encounter leads to strong language and less-than-adult behavior. Also: animal magnetism.
Chapter 2a on LJ / Chapter 2a on DW — In which Dawn makes her feelings known and Buffy tries not to.

( In the continuation of Chapter 2, Buffy gets on with her Sunday, which naturally ends up being weird... )

I'm holding off on making any decisions about the Doctor Who premiere until I see part 2. Except that River Song is still very yummy. That's a gimme.

Sunday was my seasonal_spuffy day! Hooray! Hooray! I posted two stories and none of them were in limerick form! Success! However, one of the stories is the first chapter in a longer fic. This is a) bad, because it's not finished, and b) good, because there's all kinds of twisty weirdness, still to be resolved. Who doesn't like that?

Both are set in San Francisco, My Fair City. The first is a fluffy one-shot — S8 comics compliant, but NOT comics dependent:

Yesterday was my noel_of_spike posting day, so naturally I've been busy writing Christmas fic about...Dollhouse? Thanks muse. Thanks a lot. I suspect it's because I made a blanket statement that I didn't think I'd ever write in any fandom but Buffy. It's such a contrarian muse. (Little bitch.)

Caveat: neither of the above are especially cheerful. I blame my minor cold, because it couldn't be my evil brain, could it?

Wasn't the solstice/full moon/lunar eclipse neat? You don't stay up that late? People! It's been almost 400 years since the last time! Tsk. 

In other Yule news, I have made 30 dozen pecan cookies, and a batch of star-shaped shortbread for a favorite kid with severe nut allergies. Today, I am looking at making another 20 dozen cookies, hitting the post office (won't that be fun?), wrapping gifts and packing up to leave for glamorous Oxnard tomorrow for a long Xmas weekend with my delightful in-laws. Or staying in bed with a box of tissues.

Yes, I know it's comics Wednesday, but I haven't anything to say as I've not read it yet and I'm sorta kinda trying to stay unspoiled for once. Give me a couple of hours and I'll be up to speed. In the meantime, I bring fic!

The above story may contain a few more sports metaphors than I would normally use, because of my home team being in the World Series! Which they handily won on Monday, btw. In case you missed it. San Francisco! Woot! Anyway, madness ensued, I ate too much Halloween candy, and now I have palpitations. Or maybe those are because of election day? Which, once again: San Francisco: Woot! Many, many other places: bummer.

The other fic-related item is that my funny little Lysistrata-inspired story The Lioness on the Cheese Grater (Giles), was nominated for a couple of Running With Scissors Awards! It is indeed an honor. Thanks, kindly nominator!

My offering for this round of seasonal_sd. I had hoped to have it posted by 11 a.m. to honor the armistice of the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, 90 years ago today. Six hours later, here it is.

My own birthdays lost a bit of their luster after I had a kid and that event became *much more literally* my birth day. You see what I mean? Plus, I was tired for a while there. Coincidence? I think not!

So, my birthday was Thursday, and there was this fantastic thing on LJ to mark the occasion. The most wondrous mere_ubu made me so happy! 'Cos, really, there's only a couple of activities that make me happier than laughing that hard. Especially when it's so wrong. Most of you have probably already seen the thing. But, if not, ( check it out ). If you dare. Rated 15 (for inappropriate use of kitchen utensils).

P.S. I share my date 'o birth with Mark Hamill, Pedro Almodovar, and my mother-in-law! I kid you not.
